Today’s playtime was really fun! I started by letting out the newest additions and continued adding groups until we had all 12! Periwinkle’s kids debut! A dozen babies with such a variety of gorgeous coats! The kids in this video range from Periwinkle’s 2 doelings who are less than 12 hours old to Thistle’s boisterous triplets who are now almost 12 days old!
Every time a little story unfolds while I’m watching them and today, I was amazed by the courage of tiny Dragon. He is by far the littlest goat born so far this year and yet he totally wanted to hang with the big kids. Fearless! I guess we named him the right thing! And how about his gorgeous spots?
Our morning meet ups are not just fun and games. It gives the goats a chance to learn how to find their mother, and gives the mothers a chance to let kids who are not hers know that she is not going to feed them her milk. It is a gentle way of teaching them, her dynamics slowly without throwing them in with the whole crew.
