So after about 3 days worth of hacking, The GeneBoy Reloaded is complete!
As explained in the video, I was going to plan on selling the original GeneBoy but after seeing the condition it was in and the "sometimes working" buttons, I decided that it needed to be redone and putting it into a new case would be a quick and easy way to do it.
Well of course, 25 hours later it's completed and completely redone in every way, shape and form! This is probably my fastest build ever and probably near the highest quality unit I've built. Everything is solid now despite a few cosmetic flaws, this is one of my favorites.
With that said, I'm looking to sell this unit now for $225 shipped. Yes I know you can play all the Sega games on your smart phone, great. But this is all original hardware, and a one-off unit much like most of the stuff I build. And really, that price covers mostly just the hardware. The batteries were $50, screen was $25, the Sega Core System was $40 and the plastic, controllers, audio amp, speaker and charging jack and projected shipping all added up to another $65. (Charger is not included, but I'll provide a link to what's needed). So about $180 in parts alone plus 25 hours just on this revision. $225-$180 = $45/25= $1.80/hr. So you can see the price has justification. But any, it's a collectors item which I'm sure someone will love!
