Wow, I can't believe this is finally happening! Nearly 16 years in this hobby with 12 of them trying to figure out how to make this concept work and now finally on July 15th, 2025 I will be releasing my first Portable Nintendo 64 DIY Kit to Kickstarter!
And what an adventure it's been!
About 3 years ago when I first started this brand new N64 design for a commission, I at first had no clue how far things had progressed in the portable making field. But it didn't take long to figure out that things this time around were going to be different, and as that commission came to a close, I thought the time had finally come!
So for the next two years, as the commission requests kept coming for the new design, I made it a point to revise the project as I went, making certain parts more reliable and easier to put together. Within a year this lead to the point where I could assemble 3 units at a time in less time than it took me to do 1!
That achievement plus the N64 units themselves being stress-tested at two Midwest Gaming Classics (on for 8 to 10hrs strait all weekend x2) told me that I had a solid foundation and it was time to give it a go!
And of course, none of this would have been possible without the help of @GmanModz of @BitBuilt and @4layertechnologies132 and his amazing talents with PCB design! Very many thanks my friend!
If you have more questions about the KS, the project or just wanna say hello, please feel free to leave a comment and I'll get back to ya!
Thanks again for being on the journey with me!
