The purpose of DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections is the same - to prevent accidents and injuries and improve safety for everyone on the road. They help identify defects before a CMV hits the road, so repairs can be made before they can cause breakdowns or accidents. They can also help avoid violations and out-of-service orders during DOT roadside inspections.
