We’re always hearing about the fact that our phones give us dopamine hits. And they do. But did you know that meals, give beta cells a dopamine hit.
And the dopamine hit is a good thing !
Both for your brain and your beta cells.
In this video I explore the critical role dopamine plays in glucose control. We touch on what might be compromising your dopamine response and how you can give you beta cells, the dopamine hit they NEED, to function at their best.
Both lifestyle and pharmacological solutions are explored.
In the video, I dive into the two “dopamine diseases” i.e. Parkinson’s disease and psychosis (mood disorders). I briefly introduce the biology of what goes wrong and then discuss how the meds that are used to treat Parkinson’s often make glucose control challenging and how anti-psychotic meds actually cause type 2 diabetes. If you’re suffering from Parkinson’s disease or taking an anti-psychotic to manage a mood disorder, I think you will find this post particularly interesting.
