Memphis tenor-man Bill Easley joins Montrealer Al McLean for a lush and arresting rendition of the seldom heard Ellington ballad, 'Don't You Know I Care". The duet was recorded in in Harlem, New York, at Bill's Place Jazz Club, and the pair is joined by prodigious Boston bassist Jason Davis and New York pianist Bryn Roberts.

The recording is part of a series hosted by Al McLean, and is a testament to the deep traditional roots of Easley. McLean adapts seamlessly to Easley's time capsule interpretation, indeed, his accompaniment is a nuanced homage to the unbroken chain of tradition that Easley brings to the moment. Textures of Johnny Hodges and Ben Webster are artfully woven into the believable tapestry here, and Easley's craft is both impressive and apparent.
