# shorts When removing a threaded stud, you don’t need a stud extractor. I was a maintenance engineer in two chemical plants and I never used a single stud extractor, I always used two nuts and used them as per this demo. If you need to remove studs from an engine block, such as inlet manifold or exhaust manifold bolts, I would apply a little heat to the studs first, then let them cool before attempting to remove them.
