I built this lamp post back in May 2023 using mostly Azek and red Grandis, and overall it’s held up great. The one part that didn’t fare so well? The top — which I made from White Oak. I had heard White Oak was a solid choice for outdoor projects, but as you’ll see in this video, it really didn’t hold up like I’d hoped.
In this video, I’ll walk you through replacing the top with Azek for better durability and give the entire post a fresh coat of paint. When it comes to outdoor builds, a little maintenance is just part of the deal — but hopefully this upgrade will keep things looking sharp for a long time to come!
