A big part of doing photography in public places is about not drawing attention to yourself.
When I’m shooting on the streets, I usually wear dark, simple clothes and carry a regular black bag—not a camera bag covered in logos.
I also keep my setup small: one camera, one lens.
The goal isn’t to look like a photographer. It’s to blend in.
And then there’s the part that really matters: don’t be afraid to get close.
Instead of standing across the street with a huge telephoto lens, spend time in a place. Get comfortable. Go back again and again.
The more you slow down and become part of the environment, the better your photographs become.
And most importantly, the less scary street photography starts to feel.
