Most mechanics inspect a truck for what's broken or about to break. That's not good enough for us.
We're going around this truck checking every single air line , snipping the zip ties, tracing wear points where a line's been rubbing against a fitting for years. It's the kind of thing you only catch if you're building to a higher standard, not just a passing-inspection standard.
If you're buying a used truck for a build like this, hire a heavy-duty mechanic and have them look with longevity in mind — not just "is it safe to drive today."
