Is spending more money on a tube amplifier always better? I tested two OTL headphone amps from Polish manufacturer Feliks Audio — the Echo Classic (€749) and the Echo Vibe (€999) — to find out whether the €250 upgrade actually delivers.

Both amps share the same tubes, the same 350mW output, and an elegant OTL (output transformerless) design that puts tubes directly in the signal path with no output transformer. On paper, the Vibe is the more refined amp. But the answer may surprise you — and it might save you some money.
