Most lawyers and people in general (including me) suffer from some form of imposter’s syndrome. Last week, I was having this conversation with a few lawyers on here about whether lawyers should stay in their lane (within the practice area that they’re most familiar with). A lot of their concerns about lawyers venturing out of the practice area they’ve traditionally been in are valid. Some of their “concerns” felt like an effort to justify how they get cases. That’s understandable. But, if any of the 5 people that actually read my posts or watch my videos is considering venturing out of their area of comfort, don’t let talk of “staying in your lane” lead you to give up on expanding your practice or goals. It won’t be easy and real work will need to be done to learn things, but you can do the dang thing. (As my friend Laura Wester said, “if you want to leave your lane, at least use your turn signal.”) #lawyer #behavior
