Just started trying to write songs after a long absence so I have committed myself to writing songs (some improvisational) in order to find my way in terms of styles and feeling comfortable singing and playing again. This particular song was written in a real kind of dada way, that is the music was written first and then the songs flowed off the top of my head and that is why they sound a bit strange. The emphasis at this point is more about fitting sounds of the lyrics more than a meaning to the song though there is meaning here anyway. I think that happens naturally. The second verse line originally came out as "burning shit" but at the last minute I changed it to "burning things"-
I don't know if this idea will ever become something but the exercise of playing and singing is very helpful so far.

By the way, this song writing project is part of my bucket list. I want to publish an album within 2 years that I am proud of and that will serve as something that I leave to my kids. I hope it becomes a touchstone of remembrance that they enjoy long after I am gone.
