Two terrifying encounters from the heart of Kentucky’s wilderness.
First, we head to Estill County, right on the edge of Daniel Boone National Forest, where a local landscaper had an encounter that started with what he thought was someone’s horse on the side of the road. Along the way, we dig into the real history of this area, including Estill’s Defeat and the long-abandoned Fitchburg Furnace still standing deep in these woods.
Then we come back closer to home to Cave Run Lake, where a father and his 14-year-old son were squirrel hunting on public land when the woods went completely silent, and what happened next will make you think twice before heading out there alone.
