Region locking creates meaningful choices in RuneScape Leagues II: Equilibrium, but RuneScape 3’s progression is far more interconnected than Old School’s. Skills, quests, unlocks, and training methods often cross regional boundaries, making those choices more complicated than they first appear.
We discuss where region locking causes problems, why RS3’s more vertical progression can make certain regions unexpectedly restrictive, and the other side of the tradeoff: fewer choices can lower cognitive load, encourage different builds, and make each League run feel more distinct.
Does region locking actually fit RuneScape 3, or is the friction part of what makes Equilibrium interesting?
