Can autoimmune disease cause hair loss?
Question from the host after my presentation at the conference, The Real Truth About Health.
The short answer is **yes**.
In this Wellness Wednesday Q&A, I explain the many reasons hair loss is so common in people living with autoimmune disease—and why it's often more than just the disease itself.
We discuss:
• How autoimmune diseases can directly contribute to hair loss.
• Why many medications used to treat autoimmune diseases can also cause hair loss.
• How physical stress from illness and emotional stress can trigger hair shedding.
One of the concepts I explain is that your body has priorities. When nutrients are limited, your body directs them to the organs that keep you alive. Your skin and hair are lower on the priority list. That's why hair and skin are often among the first things to show signs of poor health and among the last to recover.
This is one reason I emphasize **hyper-nourishment** on the Goodbye Lupus Protocol. By flooding the body with nutrient-dense whole plant foods, we can provide the raw materials needed to support healing throughout the body—including the skin and hair. As people recover their health, many also notice healthier skin and rapid hair growth. And when autoimmune disease improves, some people are able to reduce medications under the guidance of their healthcare team, which may also lessen medication-related hair loss.
If you're ready to learn the protocol in detail, my online class **6 Steps to Reversing Autoimmune Disease with Supermarket Foods** is **FREE through August 10** at **GoodbyeLupus.com**.
