Someone writing into Carolyn Hax’s advice column in the ‘Washington Post’ is asking if the toilet seat is supposed to be closed or stay up. They say they were raised to leave the lid down, but his their wife’s friends often leave the toilet with the seat down but the lid up. They chose to put a sticker that says “please close me” on the bottom of the lid, but it drove their wife insane. Should the toilet lid stay up or down?
