It’s time for “Meg edits something that doesn’t fit her channel’s aesthetic but does it anyways because she loves this thing she’s editing”
Maybe the most wildly unpredictable edit I’ll ever post but y’all the new movie that came out this month got me so pumped up that I just felt like it was the perfect excuse to edit these movies. The POTA reboot trilogy (I suppose tetralogy now) is MY FAVORITE sci-fi dystopian/apocalyptic film series. I rewatch this trilogy every single year, twice a year sometimes. It’s right up there on my rewatch list with my other favorite movies. The writing and filmmaking is something I aspire to make someday. It is a film series that truly understands the theme of man’s hubris, along with other themes like evolution, and is also a great character study of our lead Caesar and the journey he goes on. GAH!!! I could go on! I could write a fucking essay about these movies, but I’m gonna assume that’s not what people are here for so I’m gonna move on to the video itself!
Not much to say except that my goal for this video was smooth transitions. I think I succeeded, the best I could anyways without using After Effects. Yes, I still primarily refuse to use AE in my canon edits. Doing it for my Spider-Verse video was enough to make me realize that yep, I really hate using it for canon edits and will not do so out of stubbornness. But putting the text behind the characters wasn’t that hard and I do feel I managed to achieve the overall look and feel I wanted to! I will say this is definitely the longest it’s taken me to finish a canon edit in recent years because I got really stumped on some lyric matching. But I was determined to push through and figure it out. I was not about to have another canon edit sit in my files for who knows how many years XD. Also, fun fact, my favorite movie in the trilogy is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and yet I think it’s the movie I use the least here. I just found better luck matching the lyrics with Rise and War lol. Enjoy! And watch the new movie in theaters!!! It’s also super good!!!

Yaaayyy I can finally upload this!!!
When Meli first asked me to be a backup for her MEP, I think my first thought was “How the fuck am I going to pull this off???”. But damnit I found a way! I think? I dunno I don’t think it’s my best but it is my first try and with a medium I’m not extremely comfortable with yet. Well not like I was anyways. It was good to go back to CGI tho, I admit. It was the roots for my crossovers so editing with it now after having learned so much was a nice throwback. Anyways, I know my part isn’t the best (certainly not compared to all the other parts in this MEP, especially for all the people who ACTUALLY had to edit this shit frame by frame) but it was good to experiment. I can officially check gender bending off my bucket list as an editor! Enjoy!
STORY:
Anna is a princess who ends up finding a mysterious tower in her travels. She meets a stranger in that tower: Raphael (male!Rapunzel). The two hit it off right away, to Raphael’s mother, Gothel, disapproval. Raphael sneaks out of the tower one night and goes to the castle. Anna is surprised but grateful to see him again. However their romantic evening is interrupted, as it turns out Gothel had followed them. Raphael stands up for himself in anger of seeing her there. Unhappy about his reaction, Gothel then takes out a knife and tries to kill Rapheal as punishment, but Anna takes the fall for him. Raphael is to only watch as his lover falls in a pool of her own blood.")

Olivia and I agreed that doing this part with this voiceover and not making it a TTWU tribute would be a cardinal sin. So HERE YA GO. I did this a tribute to their relationship in the entire RP. But I also decided to do things the hard way and not only add scenes that were cut out of my rounds, but REMAKE them. Hahahahahahaha. It was worth it tho.
My editing has definitely improved since the beginning of the contest and Im very very VERY happy with this part! And thank you for everyone who joined me in the stream as I worked on it! Enjoy!")
