Hunting the big cats can feel like a nightmare when the camp at Horseshoe Overlook is new, but a man who knows the brush does not need to bleed to take their skins. Four thousand hours in the saddle teach you how to look the cougar and the panther in the eye without risk. You do not need heavy weapons. You only need a bow, the high ground, and a cold mind.
To take the cougar, ride to the brush fire near the camp. A man is up in a tree and the cat is below him. The cat is blind to anything but the man in the branches. You step off your horse, you take your time, and you put an arrow through its skull. The man lives, and you take the perfect skin.
To take the panther, ride south to the old stones of Bolger Glade. Save your progress, then find the large boulder where the trails meet. Stand on the stone where the teeth cannot reach you. Use the scent cover, drop the heavy bait, and keep turning your back. The cat likes to come from behind, but the game is tricked when you look away. When the three-star beast steps into the light, kill it clean with the bow. If the skin is poor, reload the day and wait again.
