Sex wasn't a conversation in my house. bodies weren't a conversation. Anything that made someone uncomfortable just didn't get talked about.
So, when my body started changing and I didn't understand what was happening to me.
I developed an eating disorder as a teenager. I was scared of my own body...in some ways... So I did what a lot of us do when we don't know the answer, I went to the internet. and the internet will always hand you an answer. it's just rarely the right oneđź«
it took me eight years to find out what the Church actually teaches about the body. turns out it was never "be ashamed, cover it up, don't ask questions." it's that the body is good. that I'm not a soul dragging around a body I have to manage or hide... I AM my body too, and it's part of how I was made in His image. That God himself took on a human body, so a body could never be something shameful.
Nobody told me that as a fourteen year old. I had to go find it myself, eight years and a lot of pain.
I healed, I unlearned what the internet and society drilled into me and i have so much more peace now and I just want you to know you can have this peace too.
