I decided to install and try the Dji Ground Station on my Phantom 2 non Vision after spending some time with my Brother who has the Phantom Vision+ that now has the included ability of waypoints. I was very impressed with how well it worked so I placed my order.
The flight you are going to see is using the Ipad 3 it does not work on the Ipad 1 or 2. I will be testing out the PC Ground Station very soon. I am very excited with the results and the possibilities this offers. The only thing I really miss is the ability to place a circle around an object and have the phantom keep the camera on the center. But all in all, there are ways around that, so I am not too disappointed.
I was also curious if I could place a waypoint beyond the range of either the TX or Ground Station transmitter. My first test was to start the mission and then turn off the Ground Station radio, It continued as I hoped so I sent it back out again and this time turned off the Ground Station and my TX. It finished the mission without missing a beat and once it came back I turned back on my transmitter and brought it down for a landing.
So if someone had the need to send the Phantom to some point further than they could control with the Tx, it would be possible using the Ground Station. I give it a 9 out of 10 only for the reason I mentioned earlier.
