This video is an unoptimized TAS I put together for a full RTA route of Metal Walker. It serves mainly as a reference for the general flow, but also as a means to identify simple improvements, such as when to self-destruct to return to base points or whether farming other items may be worthwhile. I learned a number of things mid-playthrough, so the back half is especially sloppy, but still workable. Most significantly, Ill probably go back to farming Hot Head to take out Dragon and a portion of the later bosses, as they get a stat boost I was unaware of. Exactly where to stop in the various level farming is also still a big question mark. Either way, I expect the final time for this run might be in the neighborhood of 2 hours once proper analysis is given to the pain points.
The extra patterns and numbers on-screen are from a script I created to gain further insight and planning. Most valuable is the current move counter (upper right, one type of RNG), and the item toss predictions. I have setups for most boss encounters for just about any throw position, but a few specific ones I may need to go for broke or tune the move counter to an appropriate value to proceed. Figuring all that out will happen at a later date, though.")

A new run! Other than the atrocious mishap against Khlar, this run was near perfect. I hit every one of the new manips, had reasonable zip performance, and otherwise did everything else well. This is my speedrun of Hagane on SNES in 15 minutes and 31 seconds. This was timed from start button to the final hit on the last boss. This is a 15:25 or so by SDA timing. This was performed in real-time on an actual console and cartridge with no extra assistance. I have submitted it to SDA, but it has not yet been verified.
This run relies a huge amount on good luck, particularly for Boss 2 (En-Mikoshi) and Boss 5 (Shura-Oh). I had to settle for a 2-cycle kill on En-Mikoshi, but that cost up to 8 seconds. The three major breakthroughs for this run that allow it to surpass several of the other non-zip TASes are:
-Worm Skip in 1-3
-Improved skip in 4-3
-1-cycle Shura-Oh kill.
Otherwise this run is very clean. I manipulate the bomb drops in Stage 1-1, but cannot control the RNG after that. I have to hope for good patterns on En-Mikoshi and Shura-Oh, or else the time suffers almost a minute. Very satisfied with this run despite not getting perfect luck.")

The final results of my 12 Hour Challenge! A good deathless run that hit most of the quick kills. Still plenty to improve with the pathing and some routing, but for the current state of the route and my effort this is a very good run. I will revisit it some more later on. Improved a fair bit due to working out how to make the long skip consistent and not having to work in the couple deaths. Still a little bit of slop, but for the most part this is a solid run.")
