I have a General brand 2 x 42 belt grinder in my shop and the motor blew recently. The start winding shorted and took out the cap as well. I was going to fix or replace the motor but instead I used a treadmill motor and controller that I had salvaged. The new motor and variable speed certainly are a big upgrade for this machine.
