Hey guys! Today I will show you how to make a macrame paw print. When finished this piece measures 19 inches long by 6 inches wide. Let’s get started.
Set-up: Cut 14 pieces of rope, each piece is 1.6 m (5 1/2 feet long). Attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots.
To create this piece we will use one knot - left facing square knots.
Count 8 cords in from the left side of your work and tie a square knot with the next 4 cords.
Using 2 cords from the left tie an alternating square knot underneath your first square knot.
Using the same 4 cords tie another square knot underneath.
Repeat that same process underneath the right side of the top square knot.
Tie one more alternating square knot with the 4 middle cords.
Repeat that design using the 8 strands on the right.
We will create this design 2 more times.
Count 2 cords from the left and tie your first square knot with the next 4 cords approx. 1.5 inches down from the bottom of the dowel. Tie your knot on a little bit of an angle as seen here.
Continue creating your design using the same process as the first 2 sections. Leave more space on the right side then the left side of this square knot.
Repeat that same design one more time on the right side of your work.
We will now make the centre of the paw. Tie a square knot in the middle of your work about 1 inch down from the two square knots above it.
Using the 2 cords on the left tie an alternating square knot underneath your first square knot. Repeat on the right side. Tie another square knot with the 4 cords on the left. Tie your square knot on a bit of an angle as seen here.
Using the 2 cords on the left tie an alternating square knot underneath the previous square knot.
Tie 3 more square knots using the same process on the right side of your work.
Tie another square knot with the 4 middle cords. Tie a square knot with the 4 cords on the left. Tie a square knot with the 4 cords on the right.
Tie an alternating square knot underneath. Repeat on the right side of your work.
Tie 2 more square knots - one on the left side and one on the right.
Tie another square knot in the middle of your work.
Tie 3 more square knots on the left side of your work. When tying the last two square knots leave a little bit of space between the square knot you are tying and the square knots on left.
Repeat that process on the right side of your work.
Tie another square knot in the middle of your work.
Tie one more square knot in the middle of your work.
Thanks for watching!
