This video explains how Panasonic Lumix camera remote triggers actually work, and how to build a DIY timelapse or shutter trigger cable for GH5, GH6, GH7, S1, S1II, S1IIR, G9, and other Lumix cameras!
Panasonic Lumix cameras use a resistor-based remote trigger system, which is why many off-the-shelf shutter cables do not work correctly for still photos or timelapse.
In this video, I break down:
- How Lumix remote triggers actually work
- Why some cables only start and stop video recording
- How to build your own DIY Lumix timelapse or shutter trigger cable
- How this applies to timelapse, interval shooting, light triggers, motion triggers, microswitches, Arduino projects, and more
While this demo uses a resin 3D printer as the trigger source, the wiring and principles apply to any custom trigger method, not just ResinLapse!
β οΈ Camera Compatibility Notes:
- This method applies to many Panasonic Lumix cameras, including: GH5, GH6, G9, GH7, S1, S1II, FZ series, S9 and others that use the 2.5mm TRRS remote port.
If you are using Canon or Nikon cameras, their remote trigger systems are different and do not require resistor encoding.
