This is how this Retract-A-Gate customer installed his Retract-A-Gate by making his own install accessories. For his installation, he made his own adapters for his banister posts out of a couple pieces of wood. He strapped them onto his posts to create a larger clearance from the edge of the steps, to avoid having to screw holes into the banister posts, and to created a flat surface for the mounting hardware to attach to.
