This is me replacing the fan in the cab of my car. My previous fan was burned out after the plastic cover that sits at the bottom of my windshield started to warp and let in water during rainstorms. The engineers did a good job of trying to keep the water out of my ventilation system. NOT! When I took a look inside, the intake-vent screen was littered with debris from outside. That was proof that water entered into my ventilation system and burned out my motor. So, I just grabbed electrical tape and sealed the crack.
