This is a cool new series of instructional videos brought to you by Eggehead FX. Making a wound out of clay and eventually taking a needle and thread and stitching it up.
This third video will teach you how to create an encapsulated prosthetic wound from your special plaster mold. This video explains in detail how to add special mold release to the surface of your plaster mold so your silicone encapsulated prosthetic piece will not stick to the plaster mold. You will also be using a material that is used for making bald caps. This is an amazing products used a lot in the makeup effects industry to cover a silicone prosthetic to it can be blended into a persons skin without the use of a prosthetic adhesive or a cabo-patch material to fill in and blend the edges.
Materials needed:
PlatSil Gel 10 Prosthetic grade silicone. (there are other brands on the market, I use this one) Google this brand and you will find it at many makeup effects on line supply stores
Foam latex mold release: You can purchase this special mold release at any makeup effects on line supply stores. Make sure it is the FOAM LATEX Mold Release.
PD Ultra 3 Epoxy Parafilm spray. (Mold release spray)

Ultra Cal Plaster: This plaster is a standard in the makeup effects industry. Please don't use plaster of paris. Plaster of paris is to weak and porous to be used for this type of mold making.
Ultra cal plaster can be purchased at most makeup effects web sites and often at foundry supply companies or pottery supply stores. You can even use ( Hydro-cal B11 ) White plaster if it is all you can find.
You can seal your clay with Crystal Clear spray paint. This will help when removing your clay from the plaster mold after molding.
