Noctis has a very reliable combo game utilizing Time Cancels following his aerial spear lunge. The move itself is a good gap closer and works well as an anti-air, making it even more choice as a combo starter. Noct's spear lunge also angles when attacking
depending on your position, which can allow you to achieve the height necessary for the time cancel to exploit landing lag.
