In this Warrior Collective video, experienced Muay Thai coach Guy Ramsay demonstrates a simple but highly effective way to counter an opponent defending the body kick.

Filmed with Griphouse fighter Andrew Glen, this drill shows how fighters can turn defence into offence during Muay Thai sparring or competition.

Guy Ramsay is the founder and head coach of The Griphouse, one of Scotland’s most respected combat sports gyms. Founded in 2005, the gym has produced numerous champions across Muay Thai, MMA, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has developed fighters who have competed at national, European, and world level.

A veteran of the UK Muay Thai scene with more than 20 fights himself, Ramsay has spent decades coaching fighters and building one of the country’s most successful fight teams.

In this video you’ll learn:
• How to defend the Muay Thai body kick with a solid block
• How to immediately counter with punches off the defence
• Timing tactics that work in sparring and fights
• A practical drill to integrate this counter into your training

Turning defence into offence is a key skill in Muay Thai. By punching as soon as you block the body kick, you can disrupt your opponent’s rhythm and score clean counters before they recover their stance.
