In the mid-1980s, Disney changed course and brought in new executives Michael Eisner and Frank Wells to run the company. Walt Disney's son-in-law and previous president of the company moved into heading up a new film division called Touchstone Pictures. This new division made films for adults rather than families. The studio was looking to shed the reputation of being a company for kids and wanted to make money. The new venture worked and between 1984 and 1989 they would make several hit films that would turn the company around, making it profitable as they headed into their next era.
