Relationships in Stardew Valley go into various phases. Phase 1 is total strangers, you basically hate each other. Phase 2 is to be friends, 5 hearts. Phase 3 is "In a relationship" and that's 10 hearts. It's a whole process that will lead to marriage, but we're not that serious yet, just In a Relationship with Someone
