Nowadays, 3D printing is widely recognized as a new manufacturing technology in various industries. However, due to the lack of strength of the printed parts, in many cases it is difficult to apply other than prototyping and design confirmation. Applications at the actual manufacturing process where high strength is required is limited.
With Markforged composite 3D printers, it is possible to dramatically increase the strength of parts by reinforcing with Continuous Fibers to obtain even the strength of aluminum. At the same time, the fiber reinforcing direction can be freely customized to give strength only in desired direction. As a result, it can withstand various loading conditions required at the manufacturing process such as jigs, tools and final products.
In the videos in this series, we will introduce one of the many fiber reinforcement techniques as an example, which gives strength only in the bending direction or only in the twisting direction.
