Extreme industrial metal pioneers Fear Factory have faced their fair share of setbacks in recent years: member changes, lawsuits, tours being cancelled due to Covid… and yet they keep moving, maintaining their legacy and going forward. Their latest album of original material, 2021’s “Aggression Continuum”, proved there’s still plenty of gas in the band’s spaceship, and it’s definitely a landmark in their career. Last October the band released an album called “Recoded” – a re-imagination of the songs of “Aggression Continuum” with increased focus on industrial and dubstep beats, and they’re gearing up for a very productive year ahead.
Like the innovative one-two punch of “Demanufacture” and “Remanufacture”, “Recoded” brilliantly deconstructs and gives new meaning the songs from “Aggression Continuum”. The remixes were done as a collaboration between the band’s main-man Dino Cazares and producers who have previously worked with the band – Zardonic, Rhys Fulber, Tyrant of Death, Blush Response and many more.
As the year draws to a close, Fear Factory is also putting the finishing touches on the next chapter of the band. The departure of singer Burton C. Bell left big shoes to be filled, and Dino Cazares as the sole original member of the band. A new singer has reportedly been selected but not yet announced. New material is reportedly being produced already, and a tour with Static-X is booked for February 2023, so the fans’ expectation is at an all-time high.
Sonic Perspectives collaborator Rodrigo Altaf had a chat with Dino Cazares to discuss the process of putting together “Recoded” with several producers, the plans for his other band Divine Heresy, writing an autobiography and much more.
