Texas Backyard Wildlife | Did that owl's head just fall off? @TexasBackyardWildlife | Uploaded February 2024 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
We watched this great horned owl on a VERY hot Texas afternoon trying to stay awake and keep himself cool. Finally, drowsiness overcame him, and he fell asleep with such suddenness that we were worried he might have broken his own neck.
He was only out for a few seconds. These owls are nocturnal, of course, but they honestly don't seem to get much quality sleep during their days off.
His reproachful stare when he came to again made us wonder if he could tell that we were laughing at him.
