When the great horned owl is on his perch in the live oak, right in front of one of our cameras, we have a fantastic opportunity to spy on him and see how he's spending his day. He naps, but he doesn't seem to truly sleep very much, and he often entertains us by stretching and fluffing up his feathers.

This video shows him turning his head 180 degrees to look backward. He can basically preen the feathers on the back of his own neck. We all know owls can do this, but it's still a little disturbing to see it.
