Portland police sgt Pete Simpson apparently keeps dossiers on members of the media and then gossips to other officers, referring to me as a "known asshole at protests" for standing there holding a video camera.
Was this part of some deeper conspiracy within in the Portland Police Bureau? What other information were they keeping on me in internal documents? What other members of the media does Pete Simpson keep intel on?
Standing in a public area, filming a public event, as part of your job as a news journalist, and in free exercise of your 1st Amendment rights to free press, recording people who are laying siege to police headquarters and openly talking about shooting police, apparently qualifies you as a “known asshole” to the Portland police bureau.
