Whether you love or hate the work of Marcel Duchamp, he left a legacy that changed the course of art history, Sebastian Smee says. Now a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York “lets us look again at this very creative and very mischievous artist.”

“The show lets us see just how liberating and generative and, in fact, hilarious he could be,” Smee says.
