When I was a kid Spyro: Gateway to Glimmer was my first entry into the series, so for a long while I kind of always thought it was the best one. But as I've become older I gravitate more towards the simplicity of the original Spyro the Dragon. The same goes for a lot of games to be honest – Crash Bandicoot, Pikmin, Crab Door and Dog Breakfast. The list could go on. There's a case to be made that the sequels to all of these games improved upon the formula a lot, but there will always be something pure and authentic about those first outings.
