Have you ever thought about that Nights and Sonic the Hedgehog too are single button games made by Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima? Like, I don't think it was that out of left field that they would once again come back to that idea and explore it further. Once again I am left a bit baffled about what people genuinely expected this game to be when these two have a very distinct catalogue of games that speak for themselves. One of Yuji Naka's more recent games is Ivy the Kiwi? for gods sake. It should have been pretty clear from the start that these guys wouldn't make something conventional for all the gamers out there. Anyway, I think we are probably talking way too much about if games are good or bad instead of talking about their ideas and what is actually interesting about them. It's a bit of a shame that value statements of quality has taken such a huge role in how we communicate about video games because it kind of sucks tbh, lol.
