As the title track of her album of the same name, the song alludes to her relationship with Bob Dylan ten years earlier. Baez revealed that her inspiration to write the song came after Dylan called her from a phone booth and sang her the lyrics to his song "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts." A native of Staten Island, New York, Baez began her music career as a teenager performing in the coffee houses in the Boston-Cambridge area of Massachusetts.
