While both singers were at the top of the European charts in 1978, Suzi Quatro teamed up with Chris Norman (lead singer for the English band Smokie at that time) and released the soft rock duet single, "Stumblin' In". The song peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1979 and was Quatro's only U.S. Top 40 hit, and Norman's lone U.S. charting effort apart from the band Smokie. It still turned out to be by far the biggest hit for both performers. The tune was composed by writing and production team Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. "Stumblin' In" was a departure from Quatro's Hard Rock sound that was also evident in her role as Leather Tuscadero on the highly acclaimed TV show Happy Days.
