Joe Solowiejczyk, RN, MSW, CDCES, shares examples for managing type 1 and type 2 diabetes for the long term.

Joe is a published researcher in the area of family dynamics and diabetes. He is a nationally and internationally renowned subject matter expert and speaker on the psychological and emotional aspects of diabetes and is also the author of a unique, one of a kind iBook, A Type 1 Diabetes Guide to the Universe, available on iTunes. Joe currently works as a Diabetes Nurse Educator with Drs. Sklarin and Shim at the Menlo Medical Clinic Endocrine Department in Menlo Park.

Joe is a healthcare professional who has lived with T1 diabetes for over 60 years. As a Diabetes Nurse Educator, Social Worker & Family Therapist, he specializes in assessing how family dynamics impact the medical management of diabetes, designing clinical interventions for both children and adults that result in more effective coping & metabolic control. He specializes in integrating his personal experiences living with diabetes into his clinical work with patients and their families, helping them to cope more effectively with the psychological & emotional aspects of living with diabetes.
