This is an old-school Central Division matchup pitting PSL championship aspirations on the line in week 1 of the season. Cass Tech was led by All-American RB Clarence Williams (University of Michigan) on offense and senior LBs Carleton Skyes (Cincinnati), Keith Travis (Toledo) and junior All-State LB Mario Evans (Western Michigan) on defense. Murray-Wright was a hard-nosed team with exceptional line play by Jareese Cooper (Tuskegee) and Eric Burke (Louisville) and WR Damon Pitt (Central Michigan). Cass won the game, 28-0.
