FrunoCraft | Designing the "perfect" (for me) smelter (Minecraft Farms in 3min, Part 29 - Jaycraft SMP Java 1.19) @FrunoCraft | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 4 hours ago
If you build a smelter, you have a lot of design choices. I decided to go for limited speed (24 furnaces, or 8.640 items per hour), but maximum convenience: Both input and fuel input accept single items or shulker boxes. Fuel is buffered (1 barrel per furnace), so I can throw in all the sticks, saplings and whatever else I want to get rid of. The output is packed into shulker boxes as well. A bit of redstone ensures that this workes if you throw in any amount of items, so the last output shulker box might be only partially filled.
Naturally there is an option to add an automatic fuel supply (for example using a bamboo farm), but right now I have plenty of fuel (sticks from my raid farm, coal from my wither skeleton farm and blaze rods from my blaze farm) so I may or may not add that later.
Note that the mechanism to collate the output shulker boxes is not robust against chunk unloading, but of course no items are lost. But if you don't want to add a chunk loader then you may end up with several partially empty shulker boxes in the output chest.
