Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday said he expects Hurricane Milton to unleash significant damage across the Florida Peninsula and that residents should prepare for the worst.
DeSantis said during a morning news conference at the state Emergency Operations Center that weather forecasters did not predict Milton to grow from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane as quickly as it did. There’s also no guarantee the storm will weaken before hitting the state, as forecasters hope.
