I can't source it, but I once read a quote: "The field of economics only exists to employ economists". This sounds like funny hyperbole unless you've studied it at a university level, at which point you're the punchline, or you completely agree. It is nowhere near as hard as it's presented to understand economics and this is deliberate, but there are steps you can take to bypass the artificial difficulty, and come to understand it better than a lot of professors. All it takes is patience, and the will to understand the world around you and how it works. Everybody should have both.
