A Professor of the History of Science and Mathematics UT Austin. He is a former research fellow at The Smithsonian, M.I.T., Harvard, Boston University, and Caltech and has written extensively on the interface between cults, science, mathematics, the history of money and corruption. He will speak on how the last century of physics has gone astray.
Thad Roberts:
A former NASA engineer and researcher at the Quantum Space Theory Institute. He is a theoretical physicist who now champions his own think tank called the “Physics Monastery.” He will speak about what theoretical physics can tell us about the material reality of nature - all equations that describe nature must all be pointing to some universal reference. The identity of this substrate can be derived if we understand what the equations actually mean. He believes that this may be the most fruitful path to unification of relativity with the quantum world.
Michael Levin:
The Vannevar Bush Distinguished Professor at Tufts University, he is a world renowned developmental and synthetic biologist. Levin also serves as the director of the Allen Discovery Center at Tufts University and Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology. The Levin lab integrates approaches from developmental biology, computer science, and cognitive science to investigate the emergence of form and function.
Dr. Levin will speak on the biological philosophy (embodied cognition of cells) that underpins his work.

The creators of DemystifySci will also hold a workshop session covering topics from their forthcoming book, Material Atomics, where they examine big questions from the history of physics. In 1998, he led the design and assembly of the world’s first Ultra High Field MRI System. Readings from this equipment brought into question fundamental aspects of modern thermal physics, such as Kirchhoff’s Law of thermal emission.
