RingRush | Demonstration: Croc: Legend of the Gobbos World 1 in 8 jumps @RingRush | Uploaded April 2012 | Updated October 2024, 13 hours ago.
I used tool assistance to make this, but this only took about a day. Don't expect TAS quality optimization or play, outside of what was necessary to skip some jumps.
Me and Venick spent a while a few years back trying to find the least amount of jumps required to complete levels. We never got that far, but it was a pretty interesting challenge that led to some cool strategies.
Currently I'm not TASing anything, so I decided to give this a trial run while I wait for motivation/inspiration/emulator technology improvements required to TAS something else. I think it looks pretty good, but I definitely won't be making a full game TAS like this. There are some really weird physics around walls in this game, and I don't want to spend hours testing dumb angles in order to get boosted up to a higher part of the wall, especially since this project would not be submitted to TASVideos.
In case you are tempted to try this on console, a lot of these things are MUCH harder than they look. Even with tool assistance a lot of these tricks (especially those involving sliding) took a long time just to do once.
