finally here's the colleciton that should have been uploaded almost ten days ago haha as i said, i wanted to upload this on june 24th, since it was the fourth anniversary of this channel and therefore my "editing anniversary", but in the end i was lazy and since i also uploaded a mep recently i let a couple of days pass.
during that same week, i also hit 7k subscribers and 1 million views on the channel overall, so i would also like to say thank you for that! one day i will make a proper "special" video for when such occasions occur, i promise LOL last time i did that was when i had 100 subcribers omg i suck
as for the collection, the length is kind of the usual, but as you may have noticed it covers six whole months, while normally i upload collections every 3/4 months or so. that's because i've edited considerably less mep parts than the norm at the beginning of this year, due to a period of overall inactivity as well, but i also uploaded more personal projects and "spontaneous" videos, which in my opinion is good. about these parts, as always: there are some that i like, some that i don't like. but that's part of being an editor, and as long as i don't stress too much i'll be fine haha
this is the first mep collection since i started editing that has no K Project parts in it. i'm weirded out. i actually had one ready, but i'm leaving it for future collections because this one is too long already. but still :/ one thing that makes me happy about these parts though is that i edited with Pandora Hearts, which is my favorite manga and that i sadly never use for some unknown reason (PLEASE READ IT), and Aoharu x Kikanjuu, which i love very much as well, and in general i used footage that i hadn't edited in a long time and there's a lot of variety. it was somewhat refreshing
ONE RANDOM THING I'D LIKE TO SAY: for the "buttons" part at 0:34, EVERY SINGLE ONE of those tattoos you see on the character were manually masked and colored to give the "gold" effect. the one at 0:35 took like two hours and i wanted to cry, but i think it was worth it. i still can't believe i had the patience to do this

i finished this part yesterday and i was quite happy with how it turned out, ive been debating all day whether or not i should upload it by itself but in the end im going for it haha this is another example of how for some weird reason replacement parts always end up being better than ones i had taken when the mep had first been opened
i had edited kisumi only once before, in 2017, and it was fun doing so again! i thought the song really fit him. my Free! hype since watching season 3 hasnt subsided yet, in fact it looks like a good 30% of the parts in my next collection (that i will upload... one day) are with this anime
i gotta edit another part with this song and im already crying because i had the bright idea of taking one of the rap bits, but i have inspiration for it overall. im just glad im recovering some fx editing capability after doing nothing in 2019 lol

hello
i worked on this video in the past two days because i was getting frustrated with fx editing (MEP parts, of course) and i needed to do something different lol i started like three different projects, tried to continue already existent ones, but this was the only one that worked without too much struggle. i was looking through my editing song playlist, i found this one and decided to give it a go :) it was kinda weird actually, when i started editing i didnt have any clear idea in mind like i usually do, i only knew i wanted to use K Project and maybe some Mikoto x Reisi but as the video proceeded i began to realize how much this song fits Mikoto in specific, so i ended up focusing on him
what i wanted to show is: Mikoto, as the Red King, has always been haunted by the fear of hurting those who were close to him, rather than protecting them like he wanted to do. he was almost afraid of his own powers, scared that one day he would lose control like the previous King and cause another tragedy. this can be seen quite clearly in the mangas and also in the recent K Project movie that came out in July, i actually wish i could have used some scenes from there but there are no raws to work with yet. when Totsuka was killed, it was like his worst nightmare had come true: someone dear to him lost his life and Mikoto probably blamed a good part of the responsibility on himself. Totsuka especially was extremely important to him (even though i ship MikoRei with all my heart, this cannot be denied XD), he was the person who always managed to keep him grounded, one of the few who was not afraid of him/his powers and always reassured him that he was not going to cause pain and destruction. with him gone, Mikoto lost whatever attachment to life was left in him, and recklessly devoted himself to avenging Totsuka and eventually die too, since he knew that pursuing revenge would surely mean suicide. at the same time, he still had someone important to him (HOMRA, Anna, Reisi), so in order to be able to accomplish his plan he had to bury these feelings deep down, trying to forget them. he probably thought they would all be safer without him anyway.
now im sad :/ and i tried to match all of this with the lyrics. i hope it worked

its been 84 years...
maybe not 84, but last time i uploaded a mep collection was january 2019 so almost one year and a half, when my standard between mep collections used to be 4/5 months maximum. so thats definitely a lot! thats due to several reasons, the main one being that i almost didnt edit at all in 2019 at least when it comes to fx and/or mep parts. i wasnt in the best mood because of some circumstances, editing-wise, and i had no motivation at all. then there were the usual confidence issues that more or less everyone struggles with, and this is why all this stuff piled up until now. but the time has come to finally get rid of it haha
i had asked in a poll a couple of days ago, and the majority seemed to agree that i should just upload one big collection rather than splitting it. and thats what i did, with the only difference being that some parts havent been included (one because i really didnt like it; one + a half because THE SONG GOT RANDOMLY BLOCKED?? and in fact i had to render this twice = one hour; one because i still want to make some changes). so those will go into the next one, if i manage to fix the blocking issue that is. which is a bit of a problem since were talking about my own mep that still has to be uploaded :)) youtube why
edit: i had to render and upload A THIRD TIME because another song got blocked? XD?? the one at 3:09 in specific, in this case though i put a cover even though i guess it doesnt 100% fit the editing cause the instrumental is a little different lol

long story short, i had a terrible stomach ache last night and couldnt sleep, so i managed to edit this to distract myself from the pain :) i fixed it a bit just now when i came back from class and here you go. i had a lot of fun, if we dont consider the last 15% of the editing process cause since i had no scenes left i didnt know what to do and it took a while to arrange everything to fill in the gaps lol

me 🤝 raw editing lately
due to this beautiful video i got as a present for my birthday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLANEttqgbo the hiyori x ikuya mood has been pretty strong in the past couple of days. by going through one of my playlists i ran into this song, which ive wanted to edit with them for a long time because the lyrics were just perfect (please check them out), - plus the idea of drowning, considering the anime is about swimming, you know - and here we are. once again, the video was done very fast somehow
id like to personally apologize to mr haruka nanase for always making him look like the main threat that comes between hiyori and ikuya, but 1) i love angst 2) im just exhasperating what was already in the anime tbh
of course everything is from hiyoris pov, hes the one i empathize with the most between the two and i usually tend to edit according to the character whose struggles i feel the most, in this kind of video
that said, ive decided that ill probably quit editing by the end of 2021. im just tired and dissatisfied about everything at this point, so i think my time has finally come. there are still some projects that id like to get done before that, mep parts included (plus my own mep thats very close to completion thankfully), so im giving myself these last months to work on those
this is still not 100% set in stone, ill see how i feel about it later on i guess, but ive been thinking about it for a while. ill message studio leaders in due time of course
